Aston Villa transfer news as ‘astronomical’ Chelsea and Conor Gallagher verdict emerges

Ty Bracey believes Conor Gallagher would be a great signing for Aston Villa but doesn’t see Monchi getting into a bidding war in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from talkSPORT (18 May), the Villans would be interested in signing the Englishman after they achieved Champions League qualification.

Robert Calcutt also added to his report for the outlet suggesting that Unai Emery would have to sell players before they could sign Gallagher this summer.

Villa podcaster Bracey, who has featured on Claret & Blue, likes the idea of the move but Villa may be put off by his current wage demands at Chelsea.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “We’ve been linked to him a few times in different window’s and he isn’t somebody I would turn down.

He’s openly come out and said that he wants to stay at Chelsea but they have got problems and have got to offload players. Obviously, Gallagher coming through their academy helps when balancing the books.

A move would be for the highest bidder if he moves on this summer. I don’t see Villa getting into a bidding war for any player this summer, unfortunately.

Gallagher would be a great piece of business but is probably on an astronomical wage but I still wouldn’t say no to him. Do I think he would be a useful signing? Absolutely.

Should Aston Villa sign Conor Gallagher?

The Englishman has been one of the standout players in a season where Chelsea have struggled in the Premier League this season.

This has seen him feature in 37 games from the start in which time he has scored five goals and assisted seven [FotMob].

Gallagher is a hard-working central midfielder who likes to get up and down the pitch and contribute in various areas of the pitch.

He has played as a defensive, central and attacking midfielder this campaign cementing his role as one of Chelsea’s most important players.

He would certainly add some squad depth to Emery’s side as they prepare to play Champions League football next season.

Although if the Villans make a successful move to sign Ross Barkley this summer, there is no real need to pay for Gallagher.

The former West Brom player would certainly find a home at Villa Park as he is a hard-working player but it is unclear whether he is needed.
