Cameron Archer Aston Villa stay could depend on Jhon Duran future after Chelsea links
Ty Bracey believes Cameron Archer’s future at Aston Villa will be dependent on Jhon Duran and whether he stays at the club this summer.
Unai Emery confirmed, transcribed via Birmingham Live (17 May) that the English striker would be returning from Sheffield United.
He said: “Yes at the beginning he’s coming back. We are analysing [players] and we are going to meet with Nassef (Sawiris) and Wes (Edens).”
This will see Archer take part in Villa’s pre-season campaign before his future at the club is confirmed over the summer.
Villa podcaster Bracey believes he will remain at the club, only if Duran departs the club on a permanent transfer during the window.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “If Duran goes we’ll see. I think he’ll stay if Duran leaves personally. I think it’ll be one or the other out of them.
“It doesn’t help with Archer having a season like he did at Sheffield United and that won’t do him justice. Obviously, they didn’t have a good season, they were pretty much nailed for relegation since January.
“I think it boils down to if there is a buyer and whether Duran goes. I think one of them goes but which one I’m not too sure.“
Should Aston Villa keep Cameron Archer?
There is no doubt that it has been a season of struggles for Archer. His Blades side finished bottom of the Premier League table by eight points.
It all started so well for him at Bramall Lane as he scored one and forced an own goal on his debut against Everton.
He only went on to score a further three goals and assist one [FotMob]. This included a goal which ended Villa’s hopes of being top of the Premier League at Christmas.
Archer is now set for a Villa Park return while Duran may be staring at the exit door after what he was spotted doing on social media.

The Colombian has been liking a lot of Chelsea media on X which has concerned a lot of Villa fans.
This may concern Emery which could lead to him departing over the summer as his unprofessionalism becomes an evergrowing problem.
Villa could keep Archer as a backup to Ollie Watkins, regardless of Duran’s future at the club.
