Aston Villa can hand Philippe Coutinho final opportunity despite Fabrizio Romano update
Bryan King believes Aston Villa could hand Philippe Coutinho a final opportunity at the club.
The ex-Villa scout claims that if the Brazillian is to leave, it will need to be on the club’s terms rather than his.
It comes after Fabrizio Romano revealed via X on Sunday (26 May) that Couthino is keen on a move to Vasco Da Gama, with the Rio-based club advancing in talks to re-sign him.
But King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that Unai Emery’s side could extend one final opportunity to Coutinho.
“If he is going to leave the club then it needs to be on Villa’s terms, not his,” King said.
“They’ll want to recoup some of their money but it looks as if they might need to cut their losses.
“It is no good keeping an unhappy player, but I do think that it will be spelt out to him that if he is prepared to stay and put in the work, then there will be a place for him in the squad.”
Could Philippe Coutinho salvage his Aston Villa career under Unai Emery?
Things haven’t quite worked out for Coutinho at Villa Park.
However, he is a player with an impressive pedigree which could prove useful in the UEFA Champions League.
Most of Villa’s players don’t have experience at the highest level, and if Emery could get the best out of Coutinho once again, it could prove incredibly useful.
In other Aston Villa news, the club have been backed to sign a European ace in a cut-price deal.
