Aston Villa backed to sign Ronald Araujo in cut-price deal after £60m+ Barcelona news emerges
Bryan King believes Aston Villa could agree a cut-price deal with Barcelona for Ronald Araujo.
The ex-Villa scout claims that Unai Emery will already have an understanding of what the centre-back is like as a player.
It comes after a report in Sport (20 May) revealed that Villa hold an interest in the Uruguayan defender, although they are not willing to pay Barca’s asking price of £68million.
But King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has suggested the club might be able to negotiate a cheaper agreement.
“Signing a player of that calibre would be a wise move considering they have qualified for the UEFA Champions League,” King said.
“Emery will know the player because of his background in Spanish football.
“I would think that Villa could agree on a lower fee than the £68million which has been quoted because of Barcelona’s financial difficulties.”
Ronald Araujo would take Aston Villa up a level under Unai Emery
Araujo would be a statement signing from Villa.
He is a high-profile player and someone who would improve the level of Emery’s squad.
If the Villans want to have a good go in the Champions League, this is the calibre of player they should be looking at.

Should they agree a deal for Araujo, it would send out a message to the rest of the Premier League and Europe.
In other Aston Villa news, one player could snub interest from Manchester United to sign for Emery’s side.
