Ross Barkley to snub Manchester United and join Aston Villa amid transfer update
Bryan King claims Ross Barkley is far more likely to sign for Aston Villa than Manchester United.
The ex-Villa scout believes that the 30-year-old could prove to be a real asset for Unai Emery.
It comes after a report in The Guardian (20 May) revealed that Villa are close to re-signing Barkley for a “modest fee,” with United having also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that this is a smart bit of business by the club.
“I was working at Everton when Barkley came through, and he looked a real wonderkid at the time,” King said.
“It didn’t work out for him at Chelsea but he isn’t old, and he still has the potential to do a job at Villa.
“He proved he still has plenty of quality while playing for Luton, and I think he could be a very good squad player for the club.
“I can’t see him joining Manchester United over Villa.”
Ross Barkley could be a useful addition for Unai Emery at Aston Villa
Villa will need a bigger squad as they get set to compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Re-signing Barkley therefore could prove to be a stroke of genius.
He is available for a low fee and has demonstrated plenty of quality in the Premier League this season.
In addition, he already knows the club, which could prove useful.

In an era of £100million-plus signings, this could go down as one of the bargains of the window.
In other Aston Villa news, one player has already played his final game for the club.
