Transfer fee update emerges as Aston Villa close in on Luton Town star Ross Barkley

Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Luton Town attacking midfielder Ross Barkley, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper reported via its online edition on 20 May that the 30-year-old, who has been capped on 33 occasions by England, is expected to be available for a modest fee.

Villa appear to have begun their plans for the summer transfer window after securing a top-four berth which will see them competing in the Champions League next season.

Ross Barkley could be an economical transfer for Aston Villa

Barkley has proven his capabilities in the Premier League, showcasing his talent and versatility during his loan spell at Villa and his recent impressive season at Luton Town.

This experience would allow him to quickly integrate into the Villa squad and contribute effectively.

His desire to play in the Champions League and Europe aligns with Villa’s ambitions for the upcoming season and more games will see Unai Emery needing a deeper squad.

The 30-year-old’s signing would be a cost-effective move for Villa, as he is expected to be available for a modest fee and he could play the Jacob Ramsey role amid his recent injury issues.

Barkley’s ability to cover multiple positions in midfield and his experience in top-level competitions would certainly provide Emery with valuable options and depth in the squad.
