
Sil Swinkels could be in line for first Aston Villa start v Crystal Palace after contract update
Unai Emery could hand Sil Swinkels his Aston Villa Premier League debut against Crystal Palace after he signed a new contract on Friday (17 May).
Champions League qualification was secured after Villa’s draw to Liverpool (13 May) and Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City (14 May).
As a result, the Villans will travel to Selhurst Park to face Palace knowing that the result can not affect their league table standing.
This could potentially see Emery gift some Premier League debuts to various youngsters from the academy with Swinkels being one of those.
Could Sil Swinkels play for Aston Villa v Crystal Palace?
Villa announced via their official website (17 May) that the Dutch youngster had committed his future to the club after winning the Birmingham Senior Cup.
The 20-year-old has had a frustrating campaign after suffering an ACL injury at the beginning which has ruled him out until recently.
He has slotted back into the back line for the Young Lions to great effect which has seen them reach the Premier League 2 Play-Offs and win a cup.
He has been rewarded for his perseverance and performances by getting a new contract although it remains unclear as to the length of the deal.

With this news, Emery could look to bring him into the Villa first-team fold ahead of his side’s trip to face Palace on the final day.

Swinkels could come and slot into that right centre-back role in place of the Brazilian to make his Premier League debut.
