Champions League development may ‘help’ Aston Villa beat Manchester United to Michael Olise transfer

Champions League qualification could help Aston Villa win the summer transfer race for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, according to Alan Hutton.

The 22-year-old has been in exceptional form for the Eagles so far this season, scoring 10 goals and laying on eight assists for his teammates in just 18 Premier League games to drag Palace towards the top half of the table.

Multiple Premier League giants are keen to secure the 22-year-old when the transfer window opens, but reports suggest that the Villans are confident they could beat both Manchester United and Arsenal to his signature [Football Transfers, 8 May].

Although Hutton believes NSWE will have to pay a “massive” fee to sign Olise this summer, he thinks Villa’s place in the Champions League next term could tempt the winger into moving to Villa Park at the end of the campaign.

“The Champions League will definitely help, that’s for sure,” Hutton told Villa News.

“I’m surprised by this because I hadn’t seen about it, but we’re talking about massive money I would have thought. He’s an outstanding football player who has had an excellent season.

“For me, he makes any squad better it’s as simple as that. He’s young, still improving, he’s hungry, and he’s just somebody that I wouldn’t really fancy playing against if I’m totally honest.

“If they were to get him ahead of those teams that you’ve mentioned then fair play, but there is going to be a lot of competition for him, that’s for sure.”

Could Aston Villa secure summer transfer for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise?

Emery will be keen to add to his squad this summer, especially as he prepares to lead the Villans into Europe again next season. While his squad have performed excellently this term, they have lacked depth in a number of areas.

Olise has shown in recent weeks that he is more than capable of being a consistent threat in the Premier League in an attacking side and his performances won’t have gone unnoticed by scouts all over Europe as they draw up their plans for the summer.

Whether or not Villa will be able to financially compete with the Red Devils and the Gunners remains to be seen, but the guarantee of regular football at the highest level may make them more attractive for the 22-year-old.

Hopefully, NSWE will be able to find the money to get this deal over the line because the Frenchman would add an extra dimension alongside the likes of Morgan Rogers, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey.

With speculation continuing over Jacob Ramsey’s future at Villa Park, Olise could be the perfect man to replace the winger this summer.
