Emi Buendia drops brilliant Aston Villa injury update on social media

Emi Buendia has excited fans after revealing he has returned to Aston Villa training for the first time since picking up a pre-season injury.

Finally, the Villans have been handed some good news as Buendia confirmed via Instagram that he has returned to training this week (7 May).

Unai Emery has had to contend with many long-term injuries which have left his squad light at times this campaign.

Jacob Ramsey and Alex Moreno picked up ailments before the season began while Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara have now had their seasons cut short.

There have also been multiple shorter-term injuries with Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Emi Martinez missing out recently.

What impact could Emi Buendia have on Aston Villa next season?

Last season he featured in over 2400 minutes for the Villans under Emery and Steven Gerrard earlier in the campaign [FotMob].

He played a part in all 38 Premier League games with 27 of those being starts. This saw him score five goals and assist an additional two.

Buendia became a versatile cog in Emery’s system as he was able to play off the wing or as a second striker alongside Ollie Watkins.

He suited the tactical set-up with his eye for a pass as he made 780 passes with a 78.6 per cent pass accuracy across the season.

The Argentine won 44 fouls which is always a useful knack to have to relieve pressure and create chances from set pieces.

Coming back into the squad next season he will certainly add a point of difference for the Villans compared to wide players like Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey.

He brings a technical gyle and eye for a pass which can help unlock defences, especially against a low block.

Buendia will certainly be a welcome return for Emery and the Villa faithful.
