Aston Villa ace Emi Martinez injury news emerges v Olympiacos

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez may be ruled out for the rest of the season amid a worst-case injury scenario according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while the club plan for his immediate return and he’s likely to be back before the campaign ends, he’s still not at the level of fitness for him to be back between the sticks.

This means that he is a doubt for the UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Olympiacos on Thursday, 9 May.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

“This sounds like a mild injury to the thigh.

“My guess would be muscular and one that will be tested during training to see how it responds.

“The worst case would be an injury that keeps him out for the rest of the season.

“Sounds like the club still have plans for him to be back before the campaign ends and that seems to be the likely scenario, he needs to return to a certain level of fitness.

Aston Villa will be hoping Emi Martinez’s season does not end due to injury

Martinez has undoubtedly been one of the pillars of Villa’s success this season and Unai Emery will be waiting to have him back.

In his absence, the team conceded four goals and having him back will add a much-needed layer of organisation in defence.

Hopefully, he is not ruled out for the season and can return to help Villa overturn the two-goal deficit in Europe.
