Aston Villa want just £3m for goalkeeper to exit Villa Park for Celtic

Aston Villa reportedly value goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo – who is thought to be a transfer target for Celtic – at just £3million, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The report on page 77, 3 May reveals that Sinisalo has been shortlisted by the Glasgow giants as they scout potential replacements for current first-choice shot-stopper Joe Hart.

The 22-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances out on loan at League One outfit Exeter City this season, attracting attention from suitors such as Celtic as a result.

Should Aston Villa ask for more than £3m for Viljami Sinisalo?

Sinisalo’s loan spell at Exeter has been an overwhelming success for all parties involved.

The goalkeeper has made 50 appearances for the League One side across all competitions this season – significantly more than the eight he mustered when he made a temporary switch to fellow third-tier outfit Burton Albion last term [Transfermarkt].

He claimed six individual club awards for his displays as he helped the club finish a comfortable 13th on 61 points in their second season back in the third tier – a five-point improvement on their points total from last term.

The Finland international, at just 22, has displayed plenty of promise and could go on to establish himself at a much higher level if he continues to develop at this rate and builds on the experience he has gained this season. However, opportunities at Villa look scarce, with Emiliano Martinez and Robin Olsen ahead of him in the pecking order.

Celtic are in dire need of goalkeeping reinforcements ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with Hart, 37, set to retire in the summer, while second-choice shot-stopper Benjamin Sigrist could also move on.

Sinisalo is likely, then, to be one of two goalkeepers to move to Celtic Park – should a transfer occur – but perhaps Villa will feel they can generate more than the £3m they have valued him at.
