Aston Villa player ratings v Olympiacos – 1/10 Robin Olsen stinks out Villa Park
Aston Villa were smashed 4-2 by Olympiacos after goals from Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby as they suffered defeat at Villa Park in the Europa Conference League semi-final.
The first half saw Olympiacos make their chances count after Ayoub El Kaabi broke the high line twice to send the Greek side into a two-goal lead before Watkins pulled one back shortly before half-time.
It was a fast start to the second half with Diaby finding the net after just seven minutes before El Kaabi completed his hattrick to send Olympiacos ahead once more and a deflected effort from Santiago Hezze sealed it.

Aston Villa News has rated each Villa player out of 10 below [stats via Sofascore]…
Robin Olsen – 1
The goalkeeper made just one save despite conceding twice in the first half-hour of the game and twice again after half-time, failing to make his presence known in between the sticks with a 20 per cent shot-to-save rate and -2.04 goals prevented.
Matty Cash – 2
Almost as poor a display as his goalkeeper, the right-back did not make a difference in the defence and failed to affect the game going forward with a zero per cent crossing accuracy, losing the ball 21 times and giving away two fouls.
Ezri Konsa – 3
Was dominated in the air throughout the game, recording a zero per cent aerial duel success rate, while his 96 per cent pass accuracy failed to help Villa make the necessary progress up the pitch.
Clement Lenglet – 3
His passing was much more progressive and consistent than Konsa’s, but the Frenchman also failed to win a duel at a zero per cent success rate, while failing to make a single tackle, interception or block as he contributed to shipping four goals.
Lucas Digne – 4
It could be suggested that he was at fault for both first-half goals, with the second in particular caused by Digne dropping deeper than the rest of the defensive line, playing his man onside. Three tackles and two key passes saw his performance improve slightly but still was not good enough.
Douglas Luiz – 6
One of the better-performing players in the side besides the forwards apart from the penalty incident, Luiz was confident as ever in possession and completed three key passes alongside seven of 12 ground duels won and a 100 per cent aerial duel success rate.
However, a missed penalty summed up Villa’s night as they failed to make the most of a late lifeline.
John McGinn – 4
Struggled to impose himself in the deeper midfield position yet again, having previously struggled there against Chelsea, losing the ball eight times despite a 90 per cent pass accuracy and four crosses into the box.
Morgan Rogers – 5
Couldn’t impact the game as effectively as his opposite winger, with a 75 per cent pass accuracy, 33 per cent dribble success rate and 50 per cent duel rate making him largely ineffective.
Leon Bailey – 7
Looked dangerous throughout even when some of his teammates did not. Was unlucky not to have won a penalty in the first half and had the better of his man throughout, picking up an assist, winning 100 per cent of his aerial duels and completing five dribbles.

Moussa Diaby – 8
His directness, pace and attacking quality shone through as last as he picked up an assist for Watkins’ goal before finding the back of the net himself, completing four key passes and an 83 per cent passing accuracy in the process.
Ollie Watkins – 7
His finish fired Villa back into the game late in the first half despite having hardly featured until his contribution, with a low finish into the corner typifying his confidence in front of goal this season.
However, with just 12 passes completed, he would have wanted to be more involved in the game.

Jhon Duran – 5
