Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings injury update shared by Doctor
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings will be dealing with not just physical but mental challenges as well, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that players out with ACL ruptures have the fear of movement when they return and there’s always the possibility of reinjury.
The England international has been out with a long-term injury and is expected back in pre-season and not likely to return to training this month.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“The most common setbacks are other injuries or niggles that pop up after being out for so long and ramping up, regaining confidence and overcoming the mental hurdles aka Kinesio phobia or fear of movement or reinjury, and then avoiding another ACL injury.
“The challenges are both mental and physical but he appears to be on the right track in his recovery.
“However, it would seem unlikely he’ll be back in full training before the end of the season.“
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings will be eyeing the 2026 World Cup
Mings undoubtedly will have gone through a lot over the past few months as it’s an extremely painful setback which he had to endure.
This may also have been his last shot to represent England at a major tournament and that will possibly be playing on his mind as well.

However, he’s still 31 and a couple of good seasons could see him back in the Three Lions setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
