Aston Villa attacker Nicolo Zaniolo injury update emerges for Olympiacos clash
Aston Villa attacker Nicolo Zaniolo may be ruled out of the games against Olympiacos and Brighton, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Italian took the brunt of a fall after a challenge which ended up damaging his back.
While it’s not understood to be serious, if it’s lingering on and hindering his ability to train, he may not be fit for Thursday, 2 May.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“This looked to be a contact injury with Zaniolo taking the brunt of a fall after a challenge.
“If that’s the case, then it really depends on just how significant the pain and bruising are.
“There could even be a bone bruise in the pelvis or SI joint which can be very painful and linger on for a few weeks.
“If this hinders his ability to train then he could be ruled out of the forthcoming games.“
Nicolo Zaniolo has been a bit-part player for Aston Villa this season
While the 24-year-old has played in 24 league games this term, he’s just been handed nine starts by Unai Emery.
He’s failed to offer much of a goal or creative threat either, finding the back of the net just twice with no assists.
There’s also been no fixed position for him with Emery using him more as a utility player than an actual specialist.

Tyrone Mings, Boubacar Kamara, Jacob Ramsey and Emi Buendia will all be missing the games due to injury as well.
In other Aston Villa news, a doctor has issued an “unfortunate” response as footage has emerged of Tyrone Mings with an update on his current situation.
