Leon Bailey exit prediction emerges at Aston Villa after ‘outstanding’ Villa Park development
Aston Villa should not be “concerned” about Leon Bailey leaving Villa Park during the summer transfer window despite his “outstanding” recent form, according to Alan Hutton.
The Jamaican winger has been in exceptional form so far this season, scoring 10 goals and laying on a further nine assists in just 20 Premier League starts to help Unai Emery’s side mount a serious push for the Champions League.
Bailey signed a new contract to extend his stay at Villa Park earlier this season but did receive some criticism from supporters and pundits alike for an interview where he admitted he would be eager to play for a “massive” Premier League side.
While that transfer admission partnered with the winger’s recent form could see transfer interest grow ahead of the summer window, Hutton doesn’t believe Bailey will be in a rush to leave Villa, especially if they secure Champions League football.
“I’m not concerned no,” Hutton told Villa News.
“It has taken him a little bit of time to settle in and there were those fears over whether he does it enough but I think he’s really kicked into gear, he’s signed his new contract and he’s gone from strength to strength.
“What I like about him is he’s a team player. It doesn’t matter whether he’s starting or coming off of the bench, he gives everything. He was the game-changer against Lille, when he came on John McGinn went in one and he played from the right I thought he was outstanding.
“Yes he missed a penalty but that can happen to anyone. I think he was the catalyst for them to go on and win. I don’t feel that he will go, especially as there is a chance of a European final. There is a chance of a top-four finish and Champions League football next season.
“He’s just signed a new contract, he’s playing with a smile on his face. Why would you leave that? So I’m not worried about it.”
Will Leon Bailey leave Aston Villa and Unai Emery in the summer transfer window?
PSR concerns at Villa Park have meant that a number of players have already been linked with the exit door before the transfer window has even opened, with speculation rife around Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz’s future.

Bailey will likely have caught the eye of several big clubs with his displays so far this season, but that doesn’t mean that he will be in a rush to leave Aston Villa, especially now that they are in the driving seat for a place in the top four.
That won’t mean that speculation around his future will vanish between now and the end of the season. If he keeps performing to the level that he showed both against Lille and Bournemouth, teams will almost certainly keep an eye on him.
