Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno injury news emerges v Olympiacos and Brighton

Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno may be ruled out of the Olympiacos and Brighton games due to a calf injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he was expected to be back in training come the end of April but that has not yet happened, which could mean it’s more serious than first expected.

This means the game against Olympiacos on 2 May and Brighton on 5 May could come too soon for him.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

If this was a two or three-week injury as his return date indicated, this would potentially be a Grade 2 injury.

In that case, would’ve expected him back in training the last week of April or so.

However, this does appear to be more serious as he still has not returned and there’s a good chance he’s not fit enough for the next couple of games.

Alex Moreno has not been a regular for Aston Villa

The 30-year-old last played for Unai Emery’s side in the 2-0 win against Arsenal at the Emirates on 14 April.

He has made 20 Premier League appearances this term, but only 11 of them have come from the starting eleven.

Lucas Digne has been Emery’s go to option at left-back and is likely to retain his spot in the eleven even if Moreno returns for the Brighton game.
