Unai Emery handed ‘huge boost’ ahead of Aston Villa clash with Chelsea on Saturday

Bryan King believes that Douglas Luiz’s return against Chelsea will come as a “huge boost” for Aston Villa.

The ex-Villa scout believes that the Blues are in for a “difficult” evening against Unai Emery’s side.

Mauricio Pochettino will take his players to Villa Park on Saturday (27 April) where the Villans will be looking to move nine points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham, albeit having played three games more.

Luiz has missed the last two Premier League games due to suspension but is once again available for selection.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that the strength of Villa’s squad has shown in the Brazllian’s absence.

“Luiz being available again is a huge boost for Villa,” King said.

“They have had to rotate their squad over the past couple of weeks, but that is part of football, and the players who have come in have done well.

“I think this is going to be a difficult game for Chelsea.”

Unai Emery will be delighted to have Douglas Luiz available for selection again at Aston Villa

Luiz has been a key player for Emery this season.

His absence was hardly felt, with Villa winning back-to-back games in his absence, but his return will certainly make the team stronger.

While some of the players who have filled in for Luiz might feel hard done by if they are dropped to the bench against Chelsea, it would be difficult for Emery not to start the midfielder after the season he has had.

In other Aston Villa news, the club have gained a “psychological boost” over Tottenham in the race for the UEFA Champions League.
