Alisha Lehmann could quit Aston Villa Women in weeks, three clubs in talks to sign her
Alisha Lehmann could leave Aston Villa in the summer with three Mexican club sides interested in her signature, according to Fernando Esquivel.
The Swiss international has a contract at Villa Park until 2026 but this has not stopped transfer rumours from arising on Tuesday (23 April).
Reporting for 365Scores Mexico, Esquivel has suggested that three sides in the Women’s Mexican football division are interested.
He said: “It has been learned exclusively that three Liga MX Clubs have started dealings for the signing of the Swiss international, Alisha Lehmann.
“Querétaro, León and Club América. Club America Femenil is the most advance team who is looking for Alisha Lehmann.”
Should Aston Villa let Alisha Lehmann leave?
It has been a quiet season for the Villa winger who is yet to register a single goal or assist in the WSL across 12 appearances.
Lehmann did manage two goals in the Women’s League Cup but has failed to capture the imagination in the league.
This downturn in form is partially responsible to the signing of Adriana Leon from Manchester United. The Canadian has scored five and assisted three off the right wing [FotMob].
There is not much to say about Lehmann’s performances as they have been very quiet. She has created just two chances and had one successful dribble [FotMob].
These stats point towards a winger who is struggling for her best form which may point towards a loan or permanent move away.
The Swiss midfielder is certainly a useful member of the squad who would need replacing if she was to depart.
Add to this the influence she has on the team and its fan base with her gigantic social media following. She would certainly be a miss on and off the pitch.
