Aston Villa Women: How Alisha Lehmann and Rachel Daly can cause Chelsea problems
Aston Villa Women travel to face title-challenging Chelsea away, Alisha Lehmann and Rachel Daly could combine to exploit their defence.
It has been a patchy season for Carla Ward’s side compared to the riveting campaign they had last time around. This has seen just six wins put on the board compared to ten losses which sees them sitting in seventh place.
After a late Daly goal against Leicester City last time out, the Villans were able to secure a point at the Bescot but the Blues will pose another sort of problem.
Can Alisha Lehmann and Rachel Daly combine for Aston Villa v Chelsea?
Emma Hayes’ side faced Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday (14 April) and fell to a 2-1 defeat on the day.
They fell behind with less than a minute on the clock through Lucia Garcia before Rachel Williams doubled their lead on 23 minutes. The factor that Villa might be interested in is that both goals came from crosses.
The second goal saw Ella Toone win possession and whip in an early cross. Williams got in between the centre-backs and headed home with ease.

Looking at this, Daly should be hoping that she can make the most out of this apparent frailty in the Chelsea back line.
With Lehmann on the left-hand side, she has to be looking at getting crosses into the box where the former England international will be and Adriana Leon will be following up off the right.
The Blues have only conceded 14 goals this season and have a typically resolute defence but with this happening last time could Daly and Lehmann take advantage?
