Unai Emery must watch Kobe Moore and Kyrie Pierre closely despite Aston Villa Under-21s loss
Kobe Moore and Kyrie Pierre have given a good account of themselves to Unai Emery and Co. as they both scored a brace as Aston Villa Under-21s beat Arsenal 5-3 in Premier League 2.
After the result of the men’s Villa team at The Emirates, the youth side followed it up with a win of their own against the Gunners.
Despite Villa’s Young Lions falling behind after just eight minutes, they went on to score five of their own back-to-back. Moore and Pierre scored two while Travis Patterson scored one of his own.
Ethan Nwaneri scored a brace for the home side very late in the day but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback and Josep Gombau’s side secured the win.
Will Kobe Moore and Kyrie Pierre play for the Aston Villa first team?
For once in a Villa youth game, it isn’t Rory Wilson who captured the headlines as he so often has so far this campaign.
Although the Scotsman is likely to be in Emery’s thoughts for the coming seasons, performances this week (15 April) may throw some extra names in the mix.
Pierre showed desire as he reached a cross ahead of the Arsenal defence to head in at the back post and equalise. He had his second following great build-up play as he combined with Aidan Borland and Patterson before finishing.
To score two as a midfielder against one of the best academy sides in the country shows everything you need to know about the youngster signed from Bristol Rovers.
Wilson was involved in a goal as his pinpoint pass was latched onto by Moore who finished smartly. For his second he did well with his back to goal to convert as Lamare Bogarde chested it into his path.
According to the Aston Villa website, the forward has contributed to another two goals this season so these will have come at a perfect time. Especially at such great opposition.
It is great to see the Villa Academy sides doing well and with a pre-season tour on the horizon, plenty of youngsters will be doing their utmost to be involved.
Moore and Pierre have done themselves plenty of good to put themselves in Emery’s thinking ahead of the summer.
