Aston Villa ready to sign Max Kilman from Wolves in new transfer update at Villa Park

Aston Villa have entered a four-way battle for Wolves’ captain and defender Max Kilman ahead of the summer transfer window, according to HITC.

The online source reported [6 April] that the Villans have joined Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester United in the race to sign the 26-year-old centre-back.

It is understood, however, that Wolves remain hopeful that they can keep Kilman at Molineux Stadium, having emerged as an extremely important servant since signing from Maidenhead United in 2018.

Aston Villa targeting new defenders ahead of summer transfer window

Unai Emery has voiced his need for a brand-new defender ahead of the summer transfer window, having already been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Mario Hermoso on a free transfer.

Villa have had a torrid time with injuries this season, with both Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings still recovering from long-term injuries, while Diego Carlos has also spent time on the sidelines.

With Champions League football potentially coming to Villa Park next season, if they can finish in the top four Premier League spots, Hermoso could add some much-needed experience to Emery’s side.

Considering Kilman’s exploits in the Premier League, though, it might be too tempting to splash the cash on the Wolves defender who has continued to impress teams all over Europe.

Though the centre-half only has four appearances in the Europa League, there is no denying that he is one of the most talented defenders in the top tier of English football.

Gary O’Neil is certainly attempting to build something special with the current Wolves squad, Kilman being a very important part of that, so it could take a significant bid to win the defender’s signature.

Also, with Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona, a defensive spot in Emery’s squad is set to open up in the summer, which could be filled perfectly by Kilman.
