Aston Villa likelihood of signing Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Goncalves shared amid £69m clause
Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Goncalves could be out of the price range of Aston Villa despite being linked with a move to the club, according to Ty Bracey.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported on its website on 16 March that Villa are preparing detailed reports on the 25-year-old winger, who has scored 16 goals and laid on 14 assists this season.
It said the Portuguese international has an €80million (£69million) release clause in his contract with the Primeira Liga club, with fellow Premier League side West Ham also eyeing a potential move to sign him this summer.
Bracey believes that fee may be a bit “far-fetched” for Goncalves as the Villans already have enough wingers in their squad at Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He would absolutely be an interesting signing. But I think €80million is a bit far-fetched if I’m honest.
“I think wherever he goes, I think he’ll strive, he’s a class player.
“He’s a very good talent, but €80million is a lot of money. I don’t think we’ll go for him because of that.
“When we’ve got a fully fit team, we’ve got enough wingers.
“I think we need to potentially add another striker in there.”

There is no doubt that Villa will have a much better chance of landing players with Goncalves’s quality if they do manage to qualify for the Champions League this season.
But as Bracey points out, the fee in question could be a bit too high for the Villans, particularly given their current financial situation.
Unai Emery will no doubt want to continue improving his squad once the summer transfer window opens, but he may look to strengthen in other areas instead of adding another wide player.
