Aston Villa former employee speculates John McGinn involvement potential Villa Park signing
Aston Villa captain John McGinn may have a say in the potential signature of Bologna ace Lewis Ferguson.
That is according to former Villa Park scout Bryan King, with GIVEMESPORT reporting on Tuesday (19 March) that Villa have sent scouts to watch Ferguson in action.
The publication added that Newcastle United, Brentford, Fulham and Everton are all interested in the Bologna man, whose club are currently fourth in Serie A.
Midfield duo McGinn and Ferguson are international teammates with Scotland, with both called up to Steve Clarke’s latest squad.
Speaking to Villa News, King said: “It would be an interesting player to bring to the club. But then he might be giving up the Champions League to come and play for Villa, who might not be in the Champions League, but both clubs are in a position for Champions League football.
“He’s playing international football for Scotland, he’s playing with McGinn, of course he could be a benefit.
“I would think that McGinn has had a little say in that as well, when he’s asked how he’s been doing internationally, he’ll obviously say ‘he’s doing well and he’d be a big asset for the club.’”
Can Aston Villa win the race for Bologna ace Lewis Ferguson?
Ferguson has been shining brightly for Bologna this season, with his displays in midfield unsurprisingly catching the eye of many top clubs.
The Italian outfit will be desperate to keep hold of the Scotland ace, but at the same time they will be aware of receiving a significant fee for his services.

Aston Villa look likely to be in the race for his signature this summer, but it seems that they will have a transfer battle on their hands.
The Midlands club could, however, be given an advantage due to the fact that Ferguson will be spending plenty of time with Villa captain McGinn during the international break.
In other Aston Villa news, one ace must be let go despite a 100% display against West Ham that left Stephen Warnock wowed.
