Aston Villa former employee makes Leon Bailey and Dwight Yorke comparison at Villa Park
Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey may achieve what Dwight Yorke did at the club, according to former Villa Park scout Bryan King.
King believes the Jamaica international has done well under Unai Emery this season, but he isn’t quite at the same level as Yorke was.
Bailey boasts 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, with his latest goal coming against Ajax on Thursday (14 March).
Emery’s side smashed the Dutch giants 4-0 in their Europa Conference League round of 16 second leg tie at Villa Park, having drawn 0-0 away from home in the first leg.
Speaking to Villa News, King said: “He reminds me a little bit of when Villa brought in Dwight Yorke from Trinidad and Tobago. Nobody had ever heard of him, Graham Taylor brought him in and he became an essential part of the club at that time, and of course went on to play for Manchester United and the rest is history.
“Whether Bailey can achieve what Yorke did, I think we have to wait and see about that, because I don’t think he’s as good as Yorke. He’s a wide right player, coming in on his left foot. He’s certainly done well this season, that’s for sure.”
Leon Bailey continues to shine under Unai Emery at Aston Villa
It has been a superb campaign from the Villa Park attacker, who hasn’t always been first choice during his time at the club.

But Bailey really is undroppable now, having overtaken summer signing in the pecking order thanks to his continuous impressive displays.
