Aston Villa v West Ham United: Doctor issues Jacob Ramsey injury update

Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey is at risk of missing the West Ham clash on Sunday, 17 March, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he will require a late fitness test if and when he’s fit and he even missed Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Ajax.

The Englishman has been ruled out with an ankle injury and there could be various factors that could result in him facing a fresh setback.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Based on comments about seeing how he is feeling every day, this sounds on the milder scale and he will require passing fitness tests until he’s fit so until then, expect him to be ruled out.

That being said, foot and ankle injuries can be tricky because of the high demands placed on them.

Setback indicators can vary significantly – whether it’s overt high level discomfort or simply soreness and swelling that is lasting longer than expected.

A setback thus, can’t be ruled out until he’s back to full fitness which is not the case thus far.

Ramsey has struggled to maintain 2022/23 level of form for Aston Villa

Ramsey has suffered injury issues at multiple junctures this season and currently battling yet another one.

Having made 35 Premier League appearances last season, he’s just been able to make 16 thus far.

Out of those, just eight have been from the start of the game and his goal contributions have also reduced considerably.

He had six goals and seven assists last season but this time around, there is just one goal and one assist attributed to him.
