Aston Villa: Lamare Bogarde could be set to make Premier League debut after what’s happened

Lamare Bogarde could be in line to make his Premier League debut for Aston Villa this season, according to Dan Bardell.

Speaking to LiveScore on 27 February, the Netherlands U-20 international said his goal at the start of the season was to make his top-flight debut during this campaign and that he still believes that target could be a possibility.

The 20-year-old midfielder was recalled from a loan spell with Bristol Rovers in the January transfer window after making 18 appearances for the League One side in the first half of the campaign.

Bardell believes the injury situation Villa have found themselves in this season means there is a chance Bogarde could be named on the bench by Unai Emery over the next couple of months.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “It’s not beyond the realms of possibility the way the injuries have gone.

“I definitely wouldn’t rule him out of getting a chance.

“He was on loan in the first half of the season at Bristol Rovers and I think he did well by all accounts.

“He’s come back for a reason. I’ve always quite liked the look of him.

“I definitely wouldn’t rule him out of getting his debut at some point because at various times Villa have been short and had eight substitutes on the bench, two of which have been goalkeepers.

“He’s here and, as long as you are here, you’ve got a chance to play.”

Could Lamare Bogarde earn Premier League debut at Aston Villa?

It could be a tough ask for Bogarde to earn his Premier League debut this season given how much is at stake for Villa over the next couple of months.

But as Bardell points out, the injury situation means it’s not out of the question as they are now down to the bare bones in central midfield.

The Dutchman will just be looking to continue working hard behind the scenes in the hope that an opportunity to impress will eventually come his way at Villa Park.
