Aston Villa could make instant profit on Jaden Philogene signing amid Fabrizio Romano update

Aston Villa could look to re-sign Jaden Philogene from Hull City in the summer and immediately sell him on in the same transfer window for a profit, according to Dan Bardell.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted on 22 February that the 22-year-old winger, who joined the Tigers from Villa for £5million last year, is on the list of multiple clubs in the Premier League and across Europe for a summer transfer.

He added that the England U-21 international will be “one to watch”, with the Villans believed to possess a buy-back clause on him should he achieve promotion with the Championship club this season.

Bardell believes Philogene would back himself to earn a place in the first team if he were to return to Villa Park as he believes he has the quality to play in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I’m not surprised that teams are interested in him because he’s done really well at Hull City.

“He’s a really exciting and fun player to watch. I would have liked him to have stayed and I think he would’ve got minutes, but he wouldn’t have played every week.

“Credit to him that he wanted to go and play. I don’t know how involved Villa were in this move, but they’ve sent him to a good environment under Rosenior at Hull. He’s gone there and shown that he’s a really good player.

“There could be a scenario where Villa bring him back if the buy-back fee is agreed and then end up selling him in the same summer.

“We’ve seen stuff happen like that in the past where they’ve activated a buy-back clause and ended up selling them for a profit.

“But he could come back to Villa and be a first-team player, he will back himself.

“It doesn’t surprise me that there’s interest in him because I think he’s a Premier League player, there’s absolutely no doubt about that.”

Jaden Philogene could make Aston Villa return

There must be some talks ongoing at Villa whether to sign Philogene should his buy-back clause become activated at the end of the season.

As Bardell points out, the winger has been in fine form for Hull during this campaign, having scored eight goals and laid on six assists in 23 appearances in the Championship.

The interest in the Villans academy product has likely surfaced after a video of him went viral after he showed a stunning piece of skill for the Tigers against Rotherham United on 13 February.
