Aston Villa rubbing hands together over Unai Emery injury news at Villa Park – former employee

Aston Villa will have been delighted to have welcomed back Pau Torres from injury, according to former Villa Park scout Bryan King.

The summer signing returned from the sidelines with a start against Eredivisie outfit Ajax in the Europa Conference League round of 16 first leg clash on Thursday (7 March).

But in a potential fresh blow to Unai Emery, the centre-back was withdrawn at half-time of the match, which finished 0-0.

Speaking to Villa News, King said: “He has done well. You’re never happy when you see a player injured, and Aston Villa must be rubbing their hands together when they have a player on his way back, because they need all the players they can get, with the challenge for the Premier League, and also in the Europa Conference League.

“It must be a welcome sign for them. He’s a Premier League player. It is a big plus for the squad and the manager.”

Aston Villa season massively impacted by injuries

Torres has been superb under Emery since his arrival last summer, but unfortunately his time in the Midlands has been disrupted by injury.

He is one of a number of players who have missed plenty of action at Villa Park this season, with fellow centre-backs Tyrone Mings and Diego Carlos on that list.
