Aston Villa: £100m Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez double sale on the cards amid financial news

Aston Villa would get £100million through the sales of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and striker Ollie Watkins.

That is according former Villa Park scout Bryan King, who shared the verdict after the club reported a loss of £119.6million in their latest accounts up to 31 May 2023.

Villa have the belief that the figure is within the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, but it has been suggested that a big-name player may need to be sold this summer to help balance the books.

Speaking to Villa News, King said: “They could certainly get over £50million for Watkins, while Martinez would also go for big money. I think you’d get £100million for those two.”

Can Aston Villa afford to lose either Ollie Watkins or Emiliano Martinez?

At opposite ends of the pitch, both Martinez and Watkins have been superb for Villa in the last few seasons.

The goalkeeper has produced save after save to help out his side at the back, with his confidence certain to have soared after lifting the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.

Watkins meanwhile has been finding the back of the net for fun lately, with such strikes central to the Midlands club’s success domestically and in Europe.
