Aston Villa certain to sell Leander Dendoncker despite Napoli transfer update
Leander Dendoncker is still a certainty to leave Aston Villa in the summer transfer window despite reports coming out of Italy, according to Ty Bracey.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported on 20 February (via Sport Witness) that Napoli, where the Belgian international is currently on loan until the end of the season, could find it “difficult” to make the deal permanent because the £7.7million option-to-buy clause is “too much”.
It added that the thought of the 28-year-old staying in Italy is now a “pipe dream”, suggesting that he could be returning to the Villans once his loan deal expires.
Bracey believes Dendoncker will still move on from Villa Park in the summer as there are plenty of clubs where the midfielder could succeed.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think he will still get sold, I think it will definitely still happen.
“But if it’s not with Napoli, then it will be with someone else.
“There are plenty of clubs that he would succeed at and, if that’s not Napoli, then that’s not them.

“The guy is decent enough to play a high standard of football.
“I think he’ll definitely move on over the summer.”
Leander Dendoncker unlikely to play for Aston Villa again
It’s incredibly unlikely that Dendoncker will ever play for Villa again as Unai Emery clearly wasn’t too keen on keeping him at the club when he joined Napoli in January.
It’s no surprise the Serie A side are reportedly not keen to pay the transfer fee after he’s only played 11 minutes in two appearances off the bench since making the loan switch.
But there is likely to still be interest in him once the summer comes around, so a move should still be on the cards even if the Italian outfit decides not to sign him.
