Aston Villa Reveal: Ex-employee speaks out about potential Leon Bailey exit despite new contract

Aston Villa might be interested in selling Leon Bailey if the right offer comes in, according to former Villa Park scout Bryan King.

The verdict comes despite the winger penning a new deal at the club [official Aston Villa website, 12 February].

The Midlands outfit confirmed that the Jamaican has extended his contract, but they did not reveal the length of the extension.

Speaking to Villa News, King said: “The word has been that he has been certainly interesting a few clubs. Now, whether that’s an opportunity for him, or what he needed to give him a bit of insurance, to give the club insurance that there had been interest.

“I would imagine he would have signed a two or three year extension. It gives the club and the player an opportunity maybe, if the right offer comes in, maybe Villa might be interested in selling him. And also Villa have shown faith in the player, and it gives the supporters a bit of a boost as well.”

Aston Villa to sell Bailey?

Unai Emery and indeed everyone at Villa Park are undoubtedly thrilled with Bailey’s displays in recent times, even if he hasn’t always been named in the starting XI.

And that delight is justified, with the winger producing several top displays this season to help the club fly high domestically and in Europe.
