Aston Villa stance on Leon Bailey shared, he has ‘set the Premier League alight’ – Bryan King
Aston Villa like Leon Bailey, with the player setting the Premier League alight, according to the club’s former scout Bryan King.
The verdict comes after the winger penned a new deal at Villa Park [official Aston Villa website, 12 February].
The Jamaican international joined the English club from German side Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2021.
Speaking to Villa News, King said: “I think he’s a good player. He’s brought a brightness into the team, a brightness into the club.
“He comes from an area of the world where we have just had the release of Bob Marley’s new film, and Bailey has certainly set the Premier League alight.
“He is good at running with the ball, has pace, has scored goals. I like him, and I think everybody at Villa does as well.”
Bailey turns Aston Villa career around
Not many fans of the club could have predicted a new deal for Bailey not so long ago, with the winger really struggling to establish himself in the team.
But he has turned the situation around, forcing his way into Emery’s thoughts and staying there with countless top-class displays.
The manager did bolster his attack in the summer with the signature of Moussa Diaby, with the player immediately hitting the ground running in England.

But lately it is Bailey who is the undroppable player in that area, with the Jamaican largely keeping Diaby on the bench.
