Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest injury news: Doctor shares Nicolo Zaniolo update

Aston Villa attacker Nicolo Zaniolo is unlikely to be fit enough to start v Nottingham Forest and play the 90 minutes, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has revealed that his recent setback might be a muscular one and while he is back in action, he is not at a 100 per cent yet.

He has played two and three minutes off the bench in games against Chelsea and Manchester United recently.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Not a lot of details were given at the time of his injury but based on it occurring in training, my guess would be muscular.

He has played single-digit minutes in recent games so it’s very likely he’s still some way from being able to start a game and playing the 90 minutes.

“Will need a lot more game time in the system before he returns to 100%”

Zaniolo has struggled in his debut Aston Villa campaign

The 24-year-old has made just seven league starts this season and most of his appearances have come off the bench for Unai Emery’s side.

He may not be at the club next season either with reports emerging of Villa unwilling to make it a permanent deal.

It remains to be seen if Emery can manage to get the best out of him until May as he’s not high up in the pecking order.
