Aston Villa injury news: Doctor issues Jhon Duran update

Aston Villa attacker Jhon Duran could be ruled out longer if his hamstring injury is closer to the tendon, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 20-year-old Colombia international faces several weeks on the sidelines with what appears to be a Grade 2 injury.

It’s been reported that he could be sidelined up to April with this, ensuring he’ll miss the majority of games until the end of the season.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News“Believe Duran has a hamstring injury and based on the fact that he’s going to be out for several weeks, it sounds like a Grade 2 out of 4 injury.

“The best case would be an injury that’s not near the tendon while the worst case would be closer to the tendon which takes longer to return from.

Right now, both possibilities exist and it remains to be seen how he responds to rehab.”

Can Duran ever become first choice at Aston Villa?

Duran moved to Villa Park in the 2023 January window but did not have the instant impact he would’ve wanted to.

He found himself behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order and the lack of game time along with fitness issues have hampered his chances of becoming a household name among the Villa fans.

This season, even though he made 14 Premier League appearances, none of them have been from the opening whistle.

He has bagged two goals but done little to show Unai Emery why he deserves more minutes.
