Ty Bracey shares ‘win-win situation’ as two Aston Villa loan exits confirmed at Villa Park

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Ty Bracey believes the loan moves for midfielder Tommi O’Reilly and defender Josh Feeney to Real Union is a “win-win situation” for everyone.

BirminghamLive reported on 1 February that the 20-year-old O’Reilly and the 18-year-old Feeney have signed on loan for the Spanish third-division side until the end of the season.

It comes after Villa’s former U-21 coach Inigo Idiakez joined the club as their new manager in December, while V Sports struck an agreement last year with the Basque side, whose president is Unai Emery’s brother Igor, to collaborate with them moving forward.

Bracey believes the Villans’ youngsters may be above the level of Real Union, but that it’s a good opportunity for them to go out and play some regular first-team football with a team closely linked with the Villa Park outfit.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think that was one of the reasons why we agreed the partnership, for moments like this.

“Obviously, we’re now interlinked with that club as well, so I think it’s an important one where we work closely alongside them, and they get some hungry young players in their team, who are probably a little bit above their level.

“But they are going to be getting that first-team football in there and we’re closely aligned with that team as well, so it’s a win-win situation.

“They get the first-team minutes and they’re technically kind of under the same umbrella, so I have no qualms about those deals.”

Loan opportunity will stand Aston Villa youngsters in good stead

As Bracey points out, the loan move will hand O’Reilly and Feeney the chance to go out and play some regular football in a different country.

It should only help with their development as they look to forge a successful career for themselves down the line at Villa Park.

There had been suggestions that O’Reilly may be more involved with the first-team setup following Leander Dendoncker’s loan move to Napoli, but he will now get the chance to impress in Spain over the next few months ahead of a return to the club in the summer.
