Ty Bracey reacts after Calum Chambers turned down Aston Villa exit offers
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ty Bracey believes the deal for Calum Chambers to leave Aston Villa has to be right for both parties after he reportedly turned down a move in the transfer window.
Football Insider reported on 1 February that the 29-year-old had rejected three offers from Championship clubs for him to make a last-gasp exit from Villa Park before the window slammed shut.
One of the clubs in question could be Villa’s West Midlands rivals West Brom after the Daily Mail reported on 1 February that they had enquired about the English right-back’s availability.
Bracey believes it’s the right thing to try and move Chambers on if Unai Emery doesn’t see him as part of his plans after the Villans boss revealed that he was free to find a new club on 12 January.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Apparently, he rejected offers. I don’t know if that’s true. It’s a tricky one and, again, I don’t know if he’s in Emery’s plans.
“We were trying to get some money off the books understandably to free up that wage budget a bit. If Emery’s got no plans for him, then that’s the right thing to do.
“But at the same time, it has to be the right deal for both parties.

“The player has to want to move to the club and, if he’s not ready to go to the Championship, then that’s up to him isn’t it if he feels like he’s still got legs in him. But that’s a subjective situation.
“Whether it’s true or not and he doesn’t want to go to the Championship and play there, if he wants to see out the rest of his contract, then so be it.”
Could be hard for Aston Villa to shift Calum Chambers
It could be difficult for Aston Villa to move Chambers on as his deal doesn’t expire until June 2025 and he seems quite content at Villa Park.
The defender has featured just three times this season after he’s fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Emery, who has made it clear he isn’t part of his plans moving forward.
The fact he rejected moves to Championship clubs shows that he fancies himself to continue playing at a higher level, so he’ll be hoping some interest from Premier League clubs comes his way in the summer.
In other Aston Villa news, Unai Emery may have contacted his former club after a Villa player exit has been confirmed.
