Rachel Daly banned after incident v Bristol City as Aston Villa Women star admits charge
Aston Villa Women star Rachel Daly has been handed a three-match ban from the Football Association, according to BBC Sport.
The publication reported on its website on Wednesday (7 February) that the striker has been found guilty of violent conduct for elbowing Bristol City’s Megan Connolly.
BBC added that Daly has admitted the charge and has accepted the punishment, with the match on Saturday (3 February) ending 2-2.
Huge blow for Aston Villa Women
Aston Villa Women star Daly perhaps felt she had gotten away with the incident given how it was not picked up by match officials at the time.
The striker appeared to elbow Bristol City defender Connolly in the face just before half-time in the Women’s Super League (WSL) clash.
Connolly went down following the incident, but Daly was not punished on the field, while there is no VAR in the WSL. But it was caught on television cameras, with a three-match ban the automatic punishment for violent conduct.
In a huge blow for the Midlands club, the star striker will now miss the FA WSL Cup quarter-final trip to Brighton on Wednesday (7 February), as well as the upcoming WSL matches against Tottenham and Liverpool.

Carla Ward’s side could really do with Daly for those games, with the striker the club’s top goalscorer this season, with six WSL goals to her name. She banged in 22 WSL goals last time out to clinch the Golden Boot.
It has been a very disappointing WSL campaign for the club so far, with Ward’s outfit currently sitting eighth place in the table.
In other Aston Villa Women news, Daly sent a two-word message to Alisha Lehmann after the draw against Bristol City.
