Rachel Daly sends two-word message to Aston Villa Women teammate Alisha Lehmann
Aston Villa Women striker Rachel Daly has sent a two-word message to her teammate and fellow forward Alisha Lehmann.
The message on social media comes after the Midlands club drew 2-2 with Bristol City in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on Saturday (3 February).
Jordan Nobbs and Adriana Leon scored for Villa in the stalemate at the Bescot Stadium, with Amalie Thestrup and Carrie Jones netting for Bristol City.
“Only if you always give your best, you will have the moments of happiness, be the best version of yourself,” Lehmann posted on Instagram, with Daly commenting: “My girl.”
Tough season for Aston Villa Women
Aston Villa Women are definitely having a tough time this season, with Carla Ward’s outfit currently sitting in eighth place in the WSL table.
Following their stalemate with Bristol City, they have 13 points from their 13 matches, with four wins, one draw and eight losses this season.
Worryingly, Aston Villa Women are just two points ahead of West Ham, Everton and Brighton, with Bristol City some way off that pack.
They sit rock bottom of the standings on six points, with Ward therefore certain to be disappointed at only picking up one point against them on Saturday.
Despite playing the entire 90 minutes at the Bescot Stadium, star striker Daly could not make it onto the scoresheet, while fellow forward Lehmann was left on the bench by Ward.

Up next for the Midlands club is a break from league action, with Brighton hosting them in an FA WSL Cup quarter-final on Wednesday (7 February).
In other Aston Villa Women news, a Sky Sports journalist recently shared a “most surprising” verdict regarding Ward’s side.
