Broadcaster shares Villa Park development that will have ‘hurt’ Aston Villa fans

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Ty Bracey believes the Aston Villa defeat to Newcastle United will have “hurt” the players and fans at Villa Park.

Villa were subjected to their first home loss in the Premier League since February 2023 as the Magpies secured a 3-1 victory on Tuesday (30 January).

That provided the Villans’ Champions League hopes with a blow as they now look to get back to winning ways when they face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday (3 February).

Bracey believes it’s “massively important” that Unai Emery’s side manage to pick up a victory against the bottom-of-the-league Blades after previously playing out a 1-1 draw with them on 22 December.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think we need to get back to winning ways. That Newcastle loss will have hurt the players and the fans.

“I think it’s important that we go to Sheffield United and get the three points, I think that’s massively important. If we’re going to be pushing for the top four, we’ve got to be getting results against teams like Sheffield United.

“We drew with them at Villa Park. I think it’s important that we get three points, so we’ve got to go there and show up.

“We need to get back to winning ways. We’ve had a few anomalies in the last few weeks, but I think it’s time to get back to winning ways.”

Time for Aston Villa to bounce back against Sheffield United

Villa have hit just a little bump in the road since the turn of the year with a goalless draw at Everton and the 3-1 defeat to Newcastle meaning they are searching for a first top-flight win of 2024.

There is no better opportunity to quickly get that monkey off their back when they visit the rock-bottom Blades, who are nine points adrift of safety and staring down the barrel of relegation.

Villa’s blip has seen them fall out of the top four but they remain level on points with Tottenham, though the gap to leaders Liverpool is now at eight points.
