Bryan King makes admission on Aston Villa-linked Morgan Rogers after £10million transfer news

Villa News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over 10 years as a scout at Aston Villa and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and eight years scouting at Everton…

Bryan King believes the links between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough ace Morgan Rogers are no more than speculation.

According to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse (25 January), Boro have been made aware that the attacker wants to join Villa.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday (28 January) that the third bid has been submitted with it being in the region of £15million.

It is understood that he is Unai Emery’s top target.

Speaking to Villa News, King said: “He played against Chelsea, and I would imagine if Aston Villa watched that game, that could have maybe put the block on the deal. It sounds like a story to fill a story.”

Rogers has been impressing under Michael Carrick this season, with the 21-year-old boasting seven goals and nine assists in all competitions.

But perhaps there would be question marks over his ability to produce similar numbers if he was to make the step up to the Premier League.

Rogers’ versatility could, however, influence Emery’s decision on the player, with the youngster having played in several attacking positions this season.
