Doctor issues Giovanni Reyna medical claim amid Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest transfer links

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa.

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Giovanni Reyna will pass his medical amid Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest transfer links, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has reacted to the United States international’s assessment of his own setbacks in a candid interview with Goal in October 2023.

Football Transfers reported on 17 January that Villa, Nottingham Forest and Wolves wanted to sign the 21-year-old and it’s understood it will take £12.8million to get the Bundesliga club to sell him, per ESPN.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “As he said, going through multiple injuries can be a valuable lesson for young footballers, especially in how to deal with the mental part of the game.

As for his leg fracture which he sustained at the start of the season, it was a hairline fracture which is the mildest.

Unless there’s some significant unknown issue, I wouldn’t expect his medicals to be a problem so can expect any medical staff to offer a green signal.

Reyna has been a bit-part player for Dortmund this season as he’s made just one league start with nine appearances coming off the bench.

He has yet to find the back of the net or even provide an assist so a move away from Signal Iduna Park could be ideal to get his career back on track.

Villa will have to fend off interest from fellow Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Wolves if they are to sign him.
