Unai Emery will be delighted as exit-linked Aston Villa man Bertrand Traore shines in 86% Burkina Faso display

Aston Villa attacker Bertrand Traore has continued his goalscoring form on the international stage with Burkina Faso.

Having netted a penalty in the 1-0 win over Mauritania, the winger once again scored from the spot in his side’s 2-2 draw with Algeria on Saturday (20 January).

It is now two goals from two matches for the Villa attacker, with his goals impressively coming from just 43 minutes of action.

Traore has come off the bench in his nation’s two Africa Cup of Nations group matches so far, but is now surely in line for a start in the final group stage clash with Angola.

Against Algeria, the Villa Park man registered an 86% pass success rate, as well as drawing a foul for his team [Sofascore].

He did, however, falter in other areas, with Traore winning just one of his six duels, as well as being unsuccessful in his only dribble attempt.

Still, Aston Villa manager Emery will be delighted that one of his players is shining for their nation, even with the winger very likely to exit the Midlands club this month.

As per The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell (12 January), the man in the dugout has confirmed that Traore can leave in the January transfer window.

So far he remains a Villa player, but Traore’s transfer value may have just risen after his two goals in the Africa Cup of Nations, which will of course delight Emery further.

The 28-year-old has played just 41 minutes of club football in all competitions this season [Transfermarkt], unsurprisingly registering zero goals, although he does have one assist to his name.

In other Aston Villa news, one Villa man delivered a timely 86% cameo against Everton recently, but he still has room to improve.
