Fabrizio Romano: Aston Villa now set to seal Kosta Nedeljkovic transfer within hours
Aston Villa are now set to seal the transfer of Red Star Belgrade right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic this weekend, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer guru shared on his personal Twitter account (21 January) that the Villans will complete the move of the 18-year-old right back within a matter of hours as the club considers him to be one of the best young full-backs in Europe.
Nedeljkovic will stay at Red Star Belgrade until June before starting his new chapter as an Aston Villa player next season.
Romano tweeted: “Kosta Nedeljković completes his move to Aston Villa this weekend.
“2005 born right back will stay at Red Star until June then starting his new chapter at #AVFC.
“Villa consider Kosta one of the most talented RBs around Europe and decided to proceed last week.”
Promising
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks at Red Star Belgrade, and has gone on to make 18 appearances for the senior side, which includes four appearances in the Champions League.
Capped at U19s level for Serbia, Nedeljkovic is considered a highly-promising talent so its certainly refreshing and pleasing to see the Villans identify such a talent and look to bring him in at Villa Park.
Nedeljkovic is certainly one for the future of Aston Villa but should he impress for the remainder of this campaign and when he does eventually bed in at the club well into next season, it won’t be a surprise to see him star for the first team.
Unai Emery confirmed to the media in his press conference last week that Calum Chambers is free to leave the club, and while the club do have Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa as current options, targets will certainly be looked at this month.
And it seems as though the Villans have taken fans by surprise with this move as they certainly would have been expected to eye a player with more European pedigree but this route taken is an exciting and promising one as Nedeljković is indeed one of the most talented of his age group in Europe.

But the deal to bring in Nedeljkovic is exciting and just the transfer strategy the Villans should be looking to do on a regular basis.
