Aston Villa twist as Lucas Digne could earn bumper wages after Saudi transfer news

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Al-Hilal are one of the only clubs that can offer Lucas Digne more than he’s on at Aston Villa, according to Ty Bracey.

The French newspaper L’Equipe reported on its website on Friday (12 January) that the Saudi Pro League side have made an approach for the 30-year-old.

It said they are also exploring a move for Raphael Guerreiro, with the Middle Eastern side seeking a loan-to-buy deal for the Bayern Munich fullback or Villa defender Digne.

Bracey would be happy to see Digne stay with the Villans, but he admitted that it’s down to the club whether or not they want to keep him, with the left-back currently earning a reported £163,000 a week at Villa Park.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “The reports around him leaving don’t seem to go away.

“He’s a high earner, so they are probably one of the only clubs who can go in for him.

“They can match the wage he’s currently on at Villa, if not offer him more.

“I’d be happy with him staying, but again, it’s down to the club and whether they think he’s worth that type of wage.”
