Middlesbrough respond to Aston Villa bid for Morgan Rogers transfer in January
Aston Villa have seen their bid for Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers rejected, with Unai Emery said to be an admirer of the youngster, according to The Northern Echo.
The newspaper reported via its website [18 January] that the Villans offer for the 21-year-old Boro star was “rejected out of hand” after submitting a bid earlier on Thursday.
It remains to be seen whether Villa will return with another bid for Rogers, with the former West Brom forward a primary target for Emery following a successful six-month spell at Riverside Stadium.

Promising future ahead
Rogers has emerged as a special talent under Michael Carrick since arriving from Manchester City, scoring six goals and assisting a further eight in 31 appearances.
Having featured in 25 of Middlesbrough’s 27 Championship matches so far, the youngster has established himself as a fan-favourite. It is no surprise, especially looking at his energy and optimism on the pitch.
Beginning life at West Brom, Rogers managed to make a single senior appearance at The Hawthorns before moving to Man City. But, like many young talents at the Etihad, he was sent out on loan to develop, rather than see any first-team action.

He experienced loans with Lincoln City, Bournemouth and Blackpool, before settling into a move to Middlesbrough in the summer. However, after just six months at the Championship outlet, Rogers could be on the move again.
Rogers would have plenty to learn under Emery, with Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby, while the minutes given to the likes of Jacob Ramsey and Jhon Duran show that Emery is open to giving young players time to prove themselves.
