Aston Villa: Tim Iroegbunam sends message to Filip Marschall as Villa Park exit confirmed, he could be set to follow
Tim Iroegbunam sent a message to Filip Marschall after his confirmed Aston Villa exit and he may well have set his own transfer move in motion.
Villa confirmed on their official website on Friday (19 January) that Marschall has departed Birmingham to join League One outfit MK Dons on loan until the end of the season.
Marschall has made just one appearance for the Villans since his emergence from the youth setup which came against Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League (14 December) and has featured on the bench ever since.
According to newspaper journalist Alan Nixon (16 January), Marschall held talks with the Dons before being placed on the bench during their 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park and now looks all set for to exit Villa Park for League Two.
Now, the young goalkeeper has sealed his exit away from Villa Park and took to his official Instagram account (19 January) to confirm his move to the Dons, showing off himself in MK Dons colours.
Exit-linked Tim Iroegbunam shared his response to Marschall sending him a “Good luck” message which could well set his own transfer exit from Villa Park in motion.
The Sunday Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop tweeted on 22 December that Villa are open to a permanent transfer for the 20-year-old.
He added that Queens Park Rangers, where the midfielder spent last season on loan, have added the England U-20 international to their list of targets ahead of the transfer window.
Birmingham Live journalist John Townley wrote in his Q&A article (16 November) that Iroegbunam will likely leave in the winter window, whether that’s a loan or a permanent with a buy-back a decision will yet be made.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Queens Park Rangers last season, featuring in 32 Championship games and scoring two goals.
But that first-team exposure didn’t help his cause when he returned to Villa Park, with Iroegbunam only making just a single appearance under Emery which came in a substitute appearance against Manchester United on Boxing Day.
Despite his limited minutes, Iroegbunam completed 100 per cent of his passes at Old Trafford which showed he has plenty to offer interested parties should he leave on loan this month.

He featured for the under-21s in the Football League trophy against Crawley Town in a 3-2 defeat (7 November) making a major impression.
As per SofaScore, the young English talent was a monster off the ball, winning a whopping 16 duels in his 90 minutes of action, recording 73 touches, completing 75% of his passes, recording two key passes, four dribbles and winning eight fouls in an eventful and dominant display.

Such a performance meant Iroegbunam could well have been gearing up for first-team chances under Emery but now that looks unlikely with the Villa Park gem now set to follow the likes of Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey and Jaden Philogene out the exit door.
With a decision now made on his immediate future at the club, Aston Villa must ensure that his next destination is the best route for him and his development in the long term.
With Marschall already out the door, it probably won’t be long until Iroegbunam is getting a “good luck” message himself.
