Aston Villa transfer news: Fabrizio Romano issues positive update on defender Kosta Nedeljkovic
Aston Villa will be completing the signing of Kosta Nedeljkovi from Crvena Zvezda in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports journalist reports that he will have his medical in the coming days before returning to his club until the end of the season on loan.
The 18-year-old will be travelling on Friday, 19 January to complete the formalities before an official announcement is made.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Kosta Nedeljkovic to Aston Villa, here we go! 2005 born right back will join the club from Crvena Zvezda! Medical tests will take place in the next days, travelling on Friday. He’s expected to stay at Serbian club until end of the season.”
Good move
Going back on loan until the end of the season was always going to be a good move for the young defender as he was unlikely to get too many first-team minutes at Villa Park.
This will ensure he continues playing the number of minutes he has been all season and being a pivotal part of the senior team there.
Nedeljkovic appears to be a promising signing for Aston Villa, particularly due to his burgeoning talent and performance at a young age.
The 18-year-old right-back has made significant strides in his breakthrough season with Red Star, impressively featuring in Champions League matches against top-tier opponents like Manchester City.
Villa’s interest in developing young talents aligns with Nedeljkovic’s potential for growth and it remains to be seen whether or not Unai Emery gives him chances with the first-team in pre season.
Express and Star report that he will be joining for £6.6million and that’s a shrewd acquisition for someone who can potentially be the first choice full-back for the better part of the next ten years.
