Aston Villa sanction Filip Marschall exit despite spate of senior matchday appearances
It could well be the beginning of the end for Aston Villa academy graduate Filip Marschall at Villa with the club now sanctioning a loan exit to League Two.
The Sun journalist Alan Nixon taking to his personal Patreon account (16 January) shared that the Villans are allowing the 20-year-old goalkeeper to leave on a temporary loan deal to League Two outfit MK Dons.
Marschall has made just one appearance for the Villans since his emergence from the youth setup which came against Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League (14 December) and has featured on the bench ever since.

According to Nixon, Marschall held talks with the Dons before being placed on the bench during their 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park and now looks all set for to exit Villa Park for League Two.
Whatever the reasons for the 20-year-old to leave the club could certainly look like a development opportunity for him to get first-team exposure and hone his craft.
However, moving to a League Two outfit just weeks after being given his maiden appearance at Aston Villa in an elite European competition certainly suggests his short career as a Villans employee could be over before it even kicks off properly.

Emiliano Martinez is certainly the undisputed number one at the club with Robin Olsen behind him in the pecking order but Marschall’s bench appearances seemed to suggest manager Unai Emery and the club still held him in stable regard given his inexperience.
In fact, his appearance against Zrinjski Mostar arguably highlighted that faith, a game where Aston Villa needed to guarantee their knockout place in the competition and Marschall certainly repaid that faith in Bulgaria.
As per SofaScore, the 20-year-old completed 100 per cent of his run-outs, successfully completed 82 per cent of his passes highlighting his bravery in distributing possession from his own goal but didn’t have a save to make all game, despite conceding a late equaliser.

Marschall did endure some nerving moments during the game but all-in-all, it was a comfortable and assured experience for the Villa Park academy graduate.
However, it seems Emery isn’t entirely convinced and Aston Villa have followed suit with the decision to loan him out to a League Two outfit which is strange considering their trust to deploy him in an engrossing fixture in Bulgaria.
If a club holds such a youngster in high regard, surely they’d loan him to a club in the Championship or to a mid-table club within Europe’s top-six leagues rather than the fourth division in England and that certainly seems to suggest that Marschall could well be gearing up for a permanent exit once his loan at MK Dons finishes.
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has savaged a first-team player and called him “Foolish” after what he did recently.
