Aston Villa: £100m fee mooted as Barcelona plot move for Douglas Luiz, ‘He would want to go’

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

It would take more than £100million for Aston Villa to sell Douglas Luiz amid interest from Barcelona in signing him, according to Ty Bracey.

Spanish news outlet Sport reported on 28 December that Deco, the La Liga giants’ president, has placed the Brazilian international at the top of his list for midfield additions in the summer transfer window.

It added that the former Chelsea midfielder has been to watch the 25-year-old several times for Villa over the past few months on the back of his impressive performances since Unai Emery took over at Villa Park.

Bracey concedes that Luiz would want to join the Spanish club, but he added that they don’t have the finances required to take him to the Nou Camp.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “They haven’t got any money, so it’s a no-brainer for me, that isn’t happening.

“Of course, he would want to go and play for Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the world, but they’ve got no money.

“It’s going to take over £100million, absolutely no doubt about it.

“He won’t go for less than £100million, there’s no way and Barcelona haven’t got that type of money.”
