Unai Emery signs his son Lander Emery as Aston Villa news emerges from Sutton Coldfield
Aston Villa seem to have signed up the son of manager Unai Emery, Lander as he takes his place on the bench for the under-21s on Tuesday evening.
The Villa Academy official Twitter page shared on 9 January that Emery has taken his place on the bench as the Villans youth side take on Suttons Coldfield on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old is a goalkeeper and could now be gearing up for his first appearance for the Aston Villa under-21s having been named on the bench for the clash.
The Villa Academy posted: “Confirmation that tonight’s sub goalkeeper is Lander Emery, Unai’s son. Lamare Bogarde returns from loan at Bristol Rovers and is straight an exciting looking lineup.”
Lander previously served as a youth goalkeeper for Emery’s old club Valencia but it seems the Villans and coach Emery may have pulled off a secret deal to bring his son over to Birmingham.

The Under-21s take on Sutton Coldfield on Tuesday in what is an exciting line-up for the game in the Birmingham County FA Cup which involves Lamare Bogarde, Rico Richards and Josh Feeney.
The Villans have been incredibly active with their youth academy development in recent months, having sold the likes of Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene and Aaron Ramsey to gain first-team experiences elsewhere.
However, the club have been building their youth sides too, having confirmed on their official website (9 January) the signing of Nottingham Forest sensation George Hemmings who will join up with the club’s exciting under-18s team.

Hemmings has also represented England at under-16 level and could be a talent for the Aston Villa fans to get excited about in the future but it seems as though Emery could well have propped up the talents of his own son if the club feel he is ready enough to take the bench against Sutton Coldfields.
Judging by the tremendous progress made under the Spaniard and his terrific judgement of the squad so far since his appointment in November 2022, it certainly looks as if Aston Villa may have another young gem on their hands in Lander.
In other Aston Villa news, one Premier League 2024 rule change could spell bad news for a big-money signing at Villa Park.
